Spice – 0421

This is my story:

Spice is a very sweet eight-pound Maltese mix who was surrendered to the shelter with an invasive yeast infection on her skin and an eye infection. She has responded very well to treatment and almost all of her fur has grown back. She looks and feels much better these days! Spice likes to play with people and tries to play with the other small dogs in her foster home. Her favorite place, though, is in a lap. She is mostly blind but does see movement and large shapes, but cannot discern depth or see things more than a foot away. Her excellent hearing helps make up for this. Spice is currently on a diet that excludes all beef and chicken to help with the healing of her skin. She is doing wonderfully on the lamb and rice formula she is currently fed. While we recommend keeping her on this food, with veterinary guidance, a limited diet may not be required in the future. Spice is currently finishing her treatments which will be complete in the next few weeks, so she is ready to start interviewing families! Spice is housetrained but may have occasional accidents due to her sight impairment. If you are interested in meeting Spice, please click the Adopt Me! button below and submit an application today!
