Tootsie (0186)

Breed: Italian Greyhound
Sex: Female
Age: 0 years and 6 months
Size: Small

Details:

Tootsie is a purebred Italian Greyhound about 6 months old and weighs only 10 pounds. She has all the characteristics and recommendations that go with the breed, so please make sure you are familiar with the breed. Older children and a secure... More...... fenced yard is required or highly recommended. Characteristic to the breed, they are shy at first and then warm up very quickly. She is great with other dogs, could care less about my cat and has been fine with my older boys. She is crate trained, but does not like to be in it for a long period of time. She gets what is called cage craze, which means she becomes protective of herself while she is in it. She is a puppy and a breed that has a lot of energy and love to give so we do not recommend she go to a home that she will be crated for a long period of time each day and will be exercised to prevent any bad behavioral problems from developing in the future. She loves
to sleep with you on the couch or bed, but can be a bed hog even for her little body! If you are interested in being considered to adopt little Tootsie, please submit an online Adoption Application for her today! She has an Adoption Donation of $275.

Nelly - Meet me at the Adoption Center on Sunday, May 20th! (0179)

Breed: Pit Bull Terrier
Sex: Female
Age: 2 years and 0 months
Size: Medium

Details:

Nelly is a 2 year old, 22 pound, Bulldog/Pit mix. Poor Nelly was not treated very well before she came to Nuts for Mutts and is EXTREMELY underweight. She needs to gain about 7 pounds and we are working on that. She also has a rib that was... More...... previously broken and healed, so it sticks out a bit. Nelly is truly one of the sweetest dogs we have ever met in my entire life. She loves everyone and just wants to be loved and she will love you back. Nelly is a calm dog that just wants to be with her people. We are working on her house training, as well as walking on a leash and basic commands. Nelly is good with other dogs, has not been around cats but we think with her mellow personality, she would be just fine with them. Are you the one who will show Nelly that people are good and that you will take care of her furever? Do not wait to submit an application for this sweet, wonderful little girl! Nelly has an Adoption Donation of $275.

Molly (0184)

Breed: Rat Terrier / Pomeranian
Sex: Female
Age: 0 years and 5 months
Size: Small

Details:

Just try to resist this face!! Molly is a Pomeranian/Rat Terrier mix. She is about 5 months old, and was surrendered because her owners lived in an apartment. She has mostly a terrier personality and is full of it! She is all puppy and likes to... More...... get into stuff. She is friendly and sweet but quite the pistol. She weighs about 9 pounds at the moment. Molly is on her way to being house broken and is very good in her crate. She can jump about a foot and a half in the air and likes to jump all over her person, so maybe not a dog for toddlers or young kids. She would, however, make a good Agility dog or to go for runs with her person! Molly gets along well with with the other dogs in her foster home and if allowed will play, play, play non stop. She can get a bit dominant over some toys, as you can see from her main photo! If you would like to be considered to adopt Molly, please submit an online Adoption Application for her today. Her Adoption Donation is $275.

Rosie 3 - Meet me at the Adoption Center on Sunday, May 20th! (0173)

Breed: Pit Bull Terrier / Unknown
Sex: Female
Age: 1 years and 1 months
Size: Medium

Details:

Rosie is a 1 year old, 52 pound, Pit mix and was a stray in the city. She LOVES people and all dogs, so much so that her behavior at doggy daycare was described as perfect by the owner of the business. However, she is a puppy still and is very... More...... oral, in that she likes to play-bite and eat sticks, plants and anything she can find in the yard. She needs an experienced dog person who knows how to handle these issues and supervise her while outside. Rosie has elbow dysplasia, probably something she was born with, in which her right elbow had abnormal bone growth. This causes her to limp slightly and she will likely develop arthritis at a young age. She needs glucosamine supplements and daily, consistent walks (preferably not on pavement) to keep her joints healthy. It would be best if she did not have to do a lot of stairs (downstairs is hard on her), but she would love to sleep on her owners bed. She is sweet and cuddly and her fur is so soft it feels like butter. Rosie is house trained and is walking really well on a leash. Her dream is to have a dog pal who loves to play as much as she does (like Nelly on this page for example...they LOVE to play together). If you give Rosie a forever home with the special care she deserves, her love and devotion will be equal to a dozen roses delivered to your doorstep everyday. If you would like to be considered for her adoption, please submit an online Adoption Application for her today! Rosie has an Adoption Donation of $275.
Tallulah (0175)

Breed: Miniature Pinscher / Chihuahua
Sex: Female
Age: 1 years and 0 months
Size: Small

Details:

Tallulah is a 12 pound, 1 year old female Min Pin/Chihuahua mix. She is super sweet and loves to snuggle, but it does take her a while to warm up. She is good with other dogs and is crate trained. We are working on her leash walking and house... More...... training. Tallulah needs to go to a quiet home with no children. The vet has told us that this young girl potentially has a birth defect that causes her to walk a little different, but she gets around just fine and is not in any pain. She must have had little to no socialization in her short life, so needs time to feel secure with new people, but she did great at the vet and seems to come out of her shell more and more every day. If you would like to be considered for Tallulah's furever home, please submit an online Adoption Application and her foster will contact you. Tallulah has an Adoption Donation of $275.

Trixie (0185)

Breed: Yorkshire Terrier Yorkie / Terrier
Sex: Female
Age: 1 years and 6 months
Size: Small

Details:

Trixie is a very sweet, gentle, funny, energetic dog. She is 1 ½ years old. She loves to play with other dogs and has no problem with kids or cats. She plays tag with my other dogs in the yard. She loves to run and play and has an excellent... More...... recall to her name. She would prefer to be with you at all times, but is learning to be independent and brave on her own. She is crate and house trained. At first she would not eat much dog food and had a bad human food diet, but she is now eating very well with a dish of food available to her at all times. She is what we call the coward watch dog, and will bark to alert everyone that some one or thing has moved or is approaching, then tucks her tail and wags it like crazy. She would love to sleep with you or relax on the couch, but I have also taught her to stay on the floor unless she is invited to jump up on the couch or bed. She is a terrier and is rough on stuffed toys… there have been lots of toy murders here. She likes chewies and is getting used to walks. She stays by my side when we are outside, but would benefit from a fenced yard to explore and play. I would recommend that she have a dog playmate in the house or if a single dog home, that play dates be set up because she loves interaction with other dogs and was with her sister for the first year and a half of her life. Trixie has an Adoption Donation of $275.

Courtesy Posting - Mr. Lucky (Courtesy 1)

Breed: American Staffordshire Terrier / American Bulldog
Sex: Male
Age: 1 years and 7 months
Size: Medium

Details:

This is a Courtesy Posting for a very deserving dog that we would love to help to find a great home. Read on for his rescuer story about Mr. Lucky: We rescued Mr. Lucky last September 2011 from a very bad situation where he was being used as a bait... More...... dog. As you can see from his Before photos, he was in pretty rough shape. He weighed 42 pounds and every single rib and vertebra was visible. His head was the widest part of his whole body. He had bite marks all over his head and shoulders and the fur was worn off the tops of his ears and his wrists from being kept in some sort of cage or box that was too small for him. In spite of all his suffering at the hands of the people who did this to him, his spirit was not broken. His After photos show how handsome and healthy he is now. Lucky is most likely between one and two years old and very much still a playful puppy. He is happy, smart, and loves his new life - and he now weighs 65 pounds. He learned sit and down, using both verbal and hand signals, in a few days. Although he gets along well with our female dog, our other male dog is aggressive towards him. There really is no way to predict whether or not he will be compatible with any given dog. Also, he has not been tried with cats, so he would probably be best as the only dog, and probably the only pet, in his new home. We have obtained a DNA analysis for him that shows his ancestry contains American Staffordshire Terrier, Bulldog and Great Dane. His new people should be strong leaders who have experience with bully breeds and will take him to obedience classes. We can recommend a very good trainer. If you would like to meet Mr. Lucky and possibly be considered for his adoption, please fill out and submit the Nuts for Mutts online Adoption Application! Mr. Lucky will have a $275 Adoption Donation.
